Plopsaland Belgium will open the Flying Cinema to the general public on Saturday, 13 March 2027. The opening date was revealed in the new making-of series about the attraction, in which Carl Lenaerts, CEO of the Plopsa Group, gives viewers an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the project. The Flying Cinema will be one of the flagship attractions of Plopsaland Plaza, a €25 million investment and the largest investment ever made at Plopsaland Belgium.
In the Flying Cinema, visitors take their seats in a moving gondola in front of an immense projection dome. Through the combination of motion, visuals, sound and scent, visitors are given the illusion that they are truly flying through the air. During the flight, they will discover several recognisable locations across Europe together with Maya the Bee, including the Dutch tulip fields, Venice, Paris and Plopsaland Ardennes. For the projection and audio, Plopsaland is working with Barco, a Belgian player of global renown.
The Flying Cinema will be a European first of its kind. Construction began at the end of September 2025. The first decoration works have now started and the large projection dome is being installed inside the building. Over the coming months, the technical installations, decoration and audiovisual elements will gradually be brought together.

Part of the largest investment ever made at Plopsaland Belgium
The Flying Cinema is part of Plopsaland Plaza, a €25 million investment and therefore the largest investment ever made at Plopsaland Belgium. The new square will become a central meeting place within the resort, combining attractions, gastronomy and entertainment. In addition to the Flying Cinema, it will include the Grand Café, bowling, arcade games and a renewed station for the Plopsa Express.
During the summer, Plopsaland Plaza will be freely accessible after the theme park closes. This will allow resort guests, local residents and tourists at the coast to visit in the evening for dinner, a drink or entertainment. At those times, the Flying Cinema will be accessible with a separate ticket. In this way, Plopsaland Plaza will also play an important role in the evening offering on the Belgian coast, outside regular park opening hours.
Making-of series takes viewers behind the scenes

Over the coming months, viewers will be taken behind the scenes of the project, from the first test flights and film shoots at Plopsaland Belgium to the installation of the projection dome and the further finishing of the attraction.
