Plopsaland opens new season with Grand Opening and looks ambitiously to the future

In De Panne, Plopsaland Belgium celebrated its annual Grand Opening today. During the official opening ceremony, attended by numerous Flemish and Dutch celebrities, the new season was festively launched. The park thus kicks off a special season marking the Grand Finale of its 25th anniversary year. This year, visitors can look forward to new shows and events featuring Studio 100 characters, a brand-new attraction, and the opening of a new family restaurant. At the same time, Plopsaland is looking ahead with ambition, announcing a record investment in Plopsaland Plaza and a spectacular new attraction set to further position the entire Plopsaland Resort on the international stage.

New show and attraction kick off the season

During the Grand Opening, the new Grand Finale Show premiered today — a 25-minute production that will now serve as the festive closing of a day in the park. Dancers, together with various Studio 100 characters, deliver an energetic final show.

Rijschool Suikerbuik was also officially opened today. This new attraction is located in the Big & Betsy zone and fits within the area’s farm theme. It replaces the former Traffic Park, which made way for a much larger future project: the Flying Cinema, a spectacular new attraction scheduled to open in spring 2027.

New projects in 2026

Several new developments are planned throughout the season. Starting from the Easter holidays, the new Plopsaland Beach will open on the beach of De Panne. With this initiative, Plopsaland Resort aims to further enhance the holiday experience for both day visitors and overnight guests, including the rental of parasols and sun loungers.

In July, the new themed family restaurant Pirate Grill will open, offering visitors an extensive range of family-friendly dishes.

Record investment in Plopsaland Plaza and Flying Cinema

Construction is also progressing steadily on Plopsaland Plaza, a new experience square set to become the beating heart of the Plopsaland Resort from 2027 onwards. This project represents the largest expansion in the park’s history.

The absolute highlight will be the Flying Cinema, a European first. In a moving gondola, visitors will virtually soar inside a massive dome screen and embark on a spectacular flight across Europe together with Maya the Bee. With this €25 million investment, Plopsaland aims to further accelerate its transformation into a fully-fledged resort.

Carl Lenaerts, CEO of Plopsa Group
“With the Grand Opening, we are launching a new season at Plopsaland. After the anniversary year, we continue to build a park that surprises guests year after year with new shows, attractions and experiences. At the same time, we are looking ahead with Plopsaland Plaza and the Flying Cinema, which is an investment that will elevate our resort to an international level.”

Hans Bourlon
“Studio 100 characters have been at the heart of Plopsaland for more than 25 years. It is wonderful to see how different generations come together here to meet their favourite heroes. With new attractions, shows and major investments, we continue to build a place where families can create unforgettable memories.”

About Plopsa

Plopsa, the theme park division of Studio 100, currently has 7 parks in its portfolio. Plopsa parks combine the magic of Studio 100 characters and more with the fun of many top attractions in a unique, themed environment. Together, the parks welcome more than 3.5 million visitors per year. Most of the activities are located in Belgium with 2 outdoor parks; Plopsaland Belgium and Plopsaland Ardennes, the indoor theme park Plopsa Indoor Hasselt and the water theme parks Plopsaqua De Panne and Plopsaqua Hannut-Landen. In addition to the theme parks and water parks, Plopsa also operates a Plopsa Shop in Wijnegem, Plopsaland Theater Hotel with 117 rooms, Plopsaland Village with 55 holiday villas and a camping site and the Studio 100 Theater in De Panne. The Plopsa Group also has an international presence. In 2010, for example, the group opened its first indoor park in the Netherlands, Plopsa Indoor Coevorden, and in Germany it acquired the Holiday Park theme park and rebranded the park to Plopsaland Deutschland. In addition, Plopsa continues to invest year after year. The range of attractions in the existing theme parks will be further expanded in the coming years, as will the number of locations where Plopsa operates.
